Christian Counseling
Are you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected and hopeless?
Maybe you are constantly striving to be perfect, or perhaps you feel like you just can’t say no when you need to. You may be feeling confused and angry or realize that you keep behaving in ways that don’t align with your Christian values. Perhaps your relationships seem to be falling apart.
Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
- You struggle to focus on the things that are important to you
- You feel angry and distant from those you love
- You don’t enjoy the things you used to; in fact, you just don’t feel fulfilled
Christian Counseling can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can feel like yourself again, by addressing your mental health and relationship struggles in a way that is consistent with your Christian faith. You can grow in your relationship with God and become more confident and free. You can make choices that align with your Biblical values and are not based on fear and anxiety. And I can help you get there.
Christian Counseling helps you do 3 things:
One of the primary goals of Christian counseling is to help individuals or couples grow spiritually. This includes deepening their relationship with God, understanding His will for their lives, and finding healing through His grace. Counselors may help clients explore how to strengthen their faith and experience spiritual renewal, especially during challenging times.
- Heal and grow: We will work together to help you deepen your relationship with God, process what the Bible says about your situation and work through the emotions that seem to be holding you back.
- Build healthier relationships: We will work on boundaries, vulnerability and communication. God created us to need him and need others, addressing relationships can greatly improve your mental and spiritual health.
- Gain a fresh perspective. We will look at your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they are connected. We will also consider the perspectives of others you are interacting with. Having an outside person assist you in understanding not just your own point of view, but also the perspectives of others involved, can be incredibly helpful. The assumptions and motives we attribute to others are often not as accurate as we think.
I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to Christian Counseling comes from a place of faith and hope: Believing that God can use all things for our good and you can grow to be the person and live out the purpose God intended for you.
Confusion, frustration and discouragement don’t have to be your story.
What are Christian Counseling sessions like?
We usually start with a check in about the previous week and any homework you were working on. We will celebrate your successes and work through the issues that may have kept you from completing all of your goals. We will decide together what will be beneficial to work on for the next week.
Sessions are led by what you need, so although I will add some structure to make sure we are moving forward, we will also spend time working through specific areas that have come up for you recently. We will include processing your relationship with God, scripture and possibly prayer in the sessions, as well.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
The length of therapy depends on each individual. Some clients are just beginning to notice some issues and are able to work through them in a few sessions. Most clients have been struggling for a long time, even a lifetime. In this circumstance we will have more areas to work on and it will take longer to reach your goals. I care about you and your individual journey and we will tailor the therapy process to your needs.
How do I know if Christian Counseling will work for me?
Christian counseling works best with individuals who are motivated to work hard and get better. We will work together as a team. You will have support and guidance, but there will be some hard and uncomfortable work for you to do. Because each individual is different and there is no treatment that works for everyone, I am not able to guarantee that this will work for you. It is my experience that clients who come in willing to work hard, follow our individual plan and sometimes feel uncomfortable are able to create lasting change in their life.
